LET THAT GENIE OUT OF THE BOTTLE!

My thought for the week:
LET THAT GENIE OUT OF THE BOTTLE!

We all have so many bottles of wishes, fears, dreams, disappointments and future fun projects hoarded in a dusty corner of our mind. Every single one of them harbours your genie of choice. While opening all of them at the same time would most likely have the Pandora’s box effect on your environment, slowly opening the first bottle or at least peeking into one right at the back (mine would be a cruise I undertook to the North Pole round 2002) might just give you the kick-start you need to cruise through another week of challenges, wars and growth.

If you insisted on keeping the stoppers on all your bottles,
Do make sure they are VERY decorative,
Or dust them…
Suggestions for suitable bottles and bottle stoppers:

Lalique and Baccarat are the Big Names, but Bohemia, now the Czech Republic made some lovely art deco things. Colored glass and high style are a tradition there that survived the Soviet empire, making a comeback now using some of the recovered original molds (Loetz).
These aren’t those, but 30s originals, finest pressed and cut glass perfume bottles:
Goldfish

This two-sided intaglio takes on the Three Graces, Czech 1930

Dig the extravagant rose arbor and the contrasting textures!

Backing up a bit to 1920, this seriously kinky snake is a standout. What Femme Fatale could resist having this on her dresser? Bet it never contained Yardley lavender, only the most exotic stench.

In 1921 Baccarat designed this bottle to hold “Kismet”, there’s still a tad left:

This Julien Viard bottle, now worth more than $ 6,000 at auction, came free with purchase back in 1919

Lalique made a ton of cash from his bottle designs, some still in use today (L’Air du Temps)
Here’s pretty one with satyrs on it. Use this stuff and turn you man into a goat? “Afternoon of a Faun”? “One Night in Mosul”?

This whole bottle is a carved watermelon tourmaline (1775)
It held snuff

The firm Moser near Karlsbad used a wide variety of techniques: casting, cutting, casing, enamel . 1925

This is made by blowing a double layer of crystal glass, then grinding down to the clear:
